A games correspondent in Connecticut was terminated Wednesday, hours after he considered a Black representative an “Uncle Tom” on Twitter.
Fred Gerteiny will no longer work for News 12 Connecticut, the station declared on its site Wednesday night.
Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the main Black Republican congressperson, said that he thought President Trump “misspoke” during Tuesday’s discussion when the president wouldn’t censure racial oppressors, including the Proud Boys.
The Hill expounded on Scott’s remarks, and Gerteiny reacted on Twitter, “Expresses gratitude toward Uncle Tom.”
Gerteiny posted a conciliatory sentiment on Wednesday, however it was brief as the ex-correspondent later erased his record.
“News 12 Networks has a zero resilience strategy for prejudice or inappropriate direct dependent on race, and highly esteems being a target and unprejudiced multi-stage news organization,” the organization said in its announcement.
