China has handled a spacecraft on Mars without precedent for the most recent development for its space program.
The official Xinhua News Agency said Saturday that the lander had landed, refering to the China National Space Administration.
Plans require a meanderer to remain in the lander for a couple of long stretches of analytic tests prior to moving down an incline to investigate a frigid space of Mars known as Utopia Planitia. It will join an American one that showed up at the red planet in February.
China’s first Mars landing follows its dispatch a month ago of the primary segment of what will be a permanent space station and a mission that brought back rocks from the moon toward the end of last year. The U.S. has had nine fruitful arrivals on Mars since 1976.
