President-elect Joe Biden has tapped California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to be his wellbeing secretary.
Becerra, a fierce defender of the Affordable Care Act, would be the main Latino to lead the US Department of Health and Human Services if he’s affirmed by the Senate.
As California’s attorney general, the 62-year-old has driven the exertion of Democratic states protecting Obamacare from the Trump administration in a Supreme Court case that is relied upon to be chosen one year from now.
Becerra served 12-terms in the House of Representatives, where he assumed an indispensable job assisting with passing the Affordable Care Act through Congress.
Quite a bit of his inspiration, he said at that point, was the high number of his Southern California uninsured constituents.
