The US will stop a few deportations for 100 days, as per the Department of Homeland Security — a ban guaranteed by President Biden on the campaign trial.
The move, which becomes compelling Friday, is to “guarantee we have a reasonable and powerful immigration implementation framework zeroed in on ensuring national security, line security, and public wellbeing,” DHS said in a Wednesday night proclamation.
The extradition delay will empower DHS to zero in on U.S.- Mexico line security and the Covid pandemic, the proclamation said.
“All through this break period DHS will keep on implementing our immigration laws,” DHS said.
