Glass shards fall from the NYC building

Shards of glass poured during this time from the 56th floor of a structure in Midtown that was the site of an ongoing crane mishap, authorities said.

The glass tumbled from the high rise under development at 111 West 57th St. during hefty breezes and downpour on Sunday night, as per the Department of Buildings.

Examiners visited the structure Monday morning and found a glass shade divider board had broken and sent the shards tumbling to the road beneath.

The DOB gave a halfway stop work request for all development chip away at the outside of the structure in light of the falling glass, a DOB representative said.

In October, trash from the high rise smashed down to the road after a “migraine ball” appended to a crane on collided with the side of the structure.
