New Yorkers may get an uncommon glimpse of the Northern Lights this week.

The National Weather Service said Wednesday that a sun powered tempest could make the Northern Lights, otherwise called aurora borealis, noticeable to inquisitive onlookers in New York state Thursday night.

A photograph shared by the organization on Twitter shows the light show might be seen upstate yet not in New York City.
